Trainings

The California Participation Project provides free voter participation trainings to 501c3 nonprofits or networks of nonprofits. Past and upcoming trainings are listed below as well as a link to download the training PowerPoint presentation.  Please contact us to set up a training for your network of nonprofits or in your community.

Some of the networks that CPP has trained include: the Westside Shelter and Hunger Coalition, El Nido Family Centers, the Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County, the California Primary Care Association, the Violence Prevention Coalition, Bienvenidos, AltaMed, Project Safe Coalition, the Pacoima Community Initiative and more.

Past Trainings

Voter Participation Training – September 22, 2010. The training covered voter participation basics for nonprofits and social services agencies and reviewed nonpartisan guidelines for 501(c)(3) organizations. Participants were able to develop a voter participation plan for their organization which included activity ideas for doing voter registration, voter education, engaging the candidates and getting out the vote – in the course of current activities.

Plus, these co-sponsoring organizations provided their election materials and resources to participants: Alliance for Justice, Arts for LA, California Common Cause, California Partnership, Center for Governmental Studies, Center for Nonprofit Management, Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County, Community Health Councils, Community Partners, Disability Rights California, League of Women Voters of Los Angeles, National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials – Educational Fund, Office of the California Secretary of State, Office of the Los Angeles County: Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk, and UCLA Center for Civil Society
